Back to School Safety

With school back in session, it's time to review important safety steps as a family so kids have a safe place to come home to after a long day of learning. Start by updating your kids' communication cards before they head-off for their first day of school. These cards should include emergency phone numbers and addresses of friends or relatives in and out of town in case of an emergency.

Talk with your kids about potential emergencies as well as injury risks around the house. Taking simple steps, such as posting emergency contact numbers next to every phone and practicing a fire drill with your family can keep your family safe throughout the school year.

Follow the Home Safety Council's safety tips and checklists below to learn about how to keep your kids safe.
