Start Safe Webinar
HSC has created a new and improved Start Safe program, with updates based on valuable input collected from classrooms and communities across the country. Start Safe: A Fire and Burn Safety Program for Preschoolers and their Families is a wonderful resource for community education funded through an AFG Fire Prevention and Safety Grant through the FEMA/Grants Program Directorate.
The program includes classroom materials local fire departments can use to work hand-in-hand with preschool teachers and administrators to present in local Head Start or preschool/daycare classrooms for children ages 3 – 6. It also provides tools to educate those in the best position to keep young kids safe at home: their parents and caregivers! All program materials and resources are available in English and Spanish.
A DVD and materials to help children learn to recognize and stay away from hot things at home are also included in the program, as well as a special instructor's DVD for teachers and the fire service with guidance to help them improve their local program and related activities and presentations.
