Fire Safety for Older Adults
Fact: Older adults are twice as likely to suffer injuries or lose their lives in fires or falls than the population-at-large.
Are your older loved ones prepared if a fire happens? The Home Safety Council encourages all family members and caregivers to inform individuals 65 years and older to prevent at-home injuries during a fire. Use the following tools to teach home improvement, behavioral and lifestyle tips that can help keep your loved ones safe.
The Fire Safety for Older Adults program was distributed to thousands of older adult activity centers nationwide. Program materials were created by Weekly Reader Corporation Custom Publishing. Major funding was provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
